Information for parents
Homework is given out weekly in Key Stage 1. The aim of the children’s homework is to allow the children to practise and apply the skills they have learnt at school. Each week there will be a piece of maths homework and a piece of English homework. Homework is given out each Friday and is expected back by Tuesday the following week. If you have any questions regarding homework, please come and speak to your child’s class teacher at the end of the school day.
We encourage our children to read at home and develop a love for reading. Every Monday, we send our children home with two/three books to share with their parents/carers. These books, along with their reading records, should be returned on a Friday. Children who have read for 15 minutes three times a week are entered into our prize draw and could win a reading book of their choosing during our Friday Achiever’s Assembly.
We also send home Bedtime Stories on a Friday. These books are for you to share with your child and aim to help encourage a love for reading for pleasure. Bedtime Stories should be returned on a Tuesday along with their homework.
As we are a healthy school, children are encouraged to eat at least 5 fruit or vegetables a day. We have fruit on offer during morning break times for your child to enjoy.
Children who are five can buy milk for £1 a week. Please speak to the school office to find out more about ordering milk for your child. Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle into school so that they can access drinking water throughout the day.
All children are expected to come to school in their full PE kits on PE days. The PE kit consists of black shorts, a white t-shirt and trainers.
Year 1 and 2 have Educational Visits to help with our learning. Please have a a look at the places we have been to by clicking the links below:
