Mrs Gawman

When did you start working at Roseberry?
In September 2021.

What is your role in school?
Teaching Assistant
Why did you become a Teaching Assistant?
When my own children started school I began volunteering my time at their primary school, while there I found a love for school I’d never had before. I love knowing I’m there to support our students and make a difference in their primary school journey. I genuinely feel like I have the best job in the world!
What is your favourite subject and why?
I love phonics! We start with a 4 year old with limited ability in literacy and we give them the tools to be able to read and write independently. What amazes me is how quickly the children pick it up and retain the information. It’s a privilege to play a part in teaching such a fantastic life skill.
Do you have a favourite book?
I adore The Scarecrows Wedding by Julia Donaldson.
What is your favourite food?
Anything someone else has cooked for me…or steak, chunky chips, vegetables and peppercorn sauce.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy walking. Either through the woods, up a mountain or along the coast. It’s never the same and always an adventure.
What do you like about working at Roseberry Primary School?
The children! I love their different personalities and how they like to share with me the things they do at home. It’s great to get to know who they are and see how they grow and change over their time at primary school.
