Miss Dodds

When did you start working at Roseberry?
I started working at Roseberry in September 2012.

What is your role in school?
I took on the role of Deputy Head in September 2021. I’m a year 1 teacher and Key Stage 1 Lead. I am also the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCO) and I lead Early Reading and the teaching of computing here at Roseberry.

Why did you become a teacher?
I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I always loved going to school when I was younger and had some fantastic teachers when I was at primary school who inspired me to become a teacher. I love working with children. Every day is different, exciting and fun!

What is your favourite subject and why?
My favourite subject to teach is English because I love seeing how much progress a child can make with their reading and their writing. I love listening to children read and enjoy sharing my favourite children’s books with my class.

Do you have a favourite book?
I’m a huge Harry Potter fan! I’ve read the series many times over the years and still think they’re an enjoyable read. The world that J.K. Rowling created is just magical!

What is your favourite food?
I love going out for Spanish tapas.

What is your favourite sport?
It has to be swimming. I was part of a swimming club when I was younger and went on to become a swimming teacher whilst I was at university.

Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy reading, going for walks, going to the cinema and spending time with my family.

What do you like about working at Roseberry?
Roseberry is like one big family! The children and the staff make it a fantastic place to work.
