Miss Coates

When did you start working at Roseberry?
I started in September 2019 in Year 3.

What is your role in school?
A Teaching Assistant (level 3) in year 5.

Why did you become a teaching assistant?
After teaching swimming for 2 years, I decided to take the role further into schools and enrolled on a Teaching Assistant course. I have never looked back!

What is your favourite subject and why?
Art and crafts – as it allows you to be creative and express your feeling through a wide range of media/resources.

Do you have a favourite book?
My favourite book is still my childhood classic called Chicken Licken which is a Ladybird book by Joan Stimson.

What is your favourite food?
Homemade corn beef pie. I recommend using ‘The Hairy Bikers’ recipe as it is delicious.

What is your favourite sport?
Martial arts. When I was younger, I gained my blackbelt in Jujitsu (Japanese martial arts) and went on to teach it for many years.

Do you have any hobbies?
I have recently started Taekwondo along with my children.

What do you like about working at Roseberry?
My colleagues are like my family – they’re so supportive and always make you feel positive and welcome.
